A Trauma Informed Approach
Painful or overwhelming experiences from childhood can affect emotional well-being, relationships, and a person’s sense of safety. However, these experiences do not define who you are. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore their impact gently, respectfully, and at a pace that feels right for you.

Meet Your Therapist
Welcome. I’m Amancia Young, an EMDR-trained therapist based in Ontario, Canada. I provide trauma-informed therapy to youth and adults who are working through difficult childhood experiences, attachment wounds, identity concerns, immigration experiences, and culture shock.
My practice is especially welcoming to immigrants, newcomers, first-generation professionals, and individuals who may appear strong and capable while feeling overwhelmed or disconnected internally.
My lived experience across cultures and institutions informs my commitment to cultural humility, warmth, and understanding. I strive to create a space where you feel respected, supported, and able to speak openly without judgment.
Whether you are healing from the past, navigating change, rebuilding relationships, or reconnecting with yourself, you do not have to do it alone. I am here to support you along the way.

Am I The Right Therapist For You?
What it is like to work with me:
Working with me means having space to slow down, feel grounded, and recognize that you do not have to carry everything alone.
I offer a steady, warm presence while supporting you in tuning in to your body, emotions, and the experiences that have shaped your story. Together, we will make sense of these experiences at a pace that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.
I listen closely not only to what you share verbally but also to what emerges from patterns, relationships, and nervous system responses. My approach is collaborative and relational. I am not here to judge, fix, or direct your life, but to walk alongside you as we explore what has influenced your present and what you would like to shift moving forward.

…we may be a good fit.
In our work together, you can expect a balance of insight and action, emotional depth and grounding practices. I bring honesty, compassion, and care shaped by my own experiences as an immigrant, a war and childhood abuse survivor, and someone who has rebuilt her life more than once.

Life Outside The Therapy Room
Outside the therapy room, I believe strongly in living a life that feels nourishing and joyful. Swimming is my happy place. When I am not in the water, I am often planning my next trip and exploring new cities, foods, and cultures.
When time allows, I volunteer within the community. Supporting and being active in my community helps me stay connected to purpose and enrich the community.
My Favourite Quote
“Today is the youngest version you will ever be.”
This quote serves as a reminder that the present moment holds possibility. Regardless of age, circumstance, or history, today can be a starting point. It invites reflection, courage, and hope, encouraging choices that support the future you want to build.

Think We Might Be A Good Fit?
Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you have been carrying a great deal on your own. If something in my approach resonates with you, I invite you to reach out. I would be glad to connect and explore whether working together feels supportive for where you are right now.
